Since Allah ta’la made this life a place of test, the way we experience happiness, we may also suffer from grief, sorrow, disappointment and anger. However, we need to realize that whatever happens to us is all from Allah. We just feel very much content, when we realize this. We are required to practice this realization, just as we are required to pray Salah and give Zakah. In fact, it is very much related to Iman. When our relationship with His Almighty gets stronger, we look at things differently. We start attributing them to Allah. Then we react differently and stay cool and calm. Obviously we can also do anything which is permissible to change our mood, such as talking to a friend or a family member, reading a useful book or just sharing jokes that do not hurt anybody’s feelings and are within the boundaries of Shariah. However, just resorting to a sin such as drinking alcohol is not a solution for a problem. A sin can only drive us away from Allah and make our heart empty from His love and mercy. Do this when you are angry: a) Perform Wudu, because anger is from Shaitan who is from fire and water puts out the fire, or b) Sit down and drink some water, or c) recite the Ta’wwuz continuously: But never ever resort to drinking as it is a great sin. It is mentioned in Ahadith that whoever drinks خمر (alcohol) once, his repentance will not be accepted for 40 days. In some other Ahadith it is mentiond that his Salah will not be accepted for forty days. Just remember Allah and be happy with his decisions in this life. Many people experience peace of mind when they send Durud on the prophet (علیہ السلام). May Allah help you and all the Muslims control their anger.
